Lime Tree Lane

LIME TREE LANE, holds the distinction of being one of the longest-running TV dramas in the English speaking Caribbean, running from 1988 to 1997. It was Jamaica’s first ‘slice of life ‘ soap opera, shown on daytime television.

The characters, Miss Zella, Maas Gussie, Mas Donald, Johnny, Mrs Upton and Constable Upton,  Sammy, Bones, Bubbles and Tiny  Constable Uptown, were real and identifiable. At the time there was only one television station and with fewer distractions and less competition, Jamaicans were glued to their televisions at broadcast time.
